Herrin- Lillian E. Leeds, age 82, of Herrin, passed away at 5:25pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Herrin Hospital.

Lillian was born in Herrin on January 27, 1939, the daughter of Louis J. and Lorine (Adams) Steinmetz. She married Vernon Duane Leeds in Zeigler on September 3, 1975. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1985.

She had worked as a seamstress for Smoller Brothers in Herrin. She was a member of Bryan Street Baptist Church in Herrin. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, nature and the outdoors. Lillian was an avid cat lover. She cherished all the little children in the family, being like a second mom to many. She loved her family and will be missed.

Sister- Mary and Carl Fowler of Rocky Mount, Missouri

Several Nieces, Nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and great great nieces and great great nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother- Martin W. Steinmetz, brother-in-law- Jerry Schaefferkoeter, brother-in-law- Darrell Bowland, and niece- Michelle Steinmetz.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Richard Pearce officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 12-2pm on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.

For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home; 201 S. 13th Street; Herrin, IL 62948.
