Rose Evelyn Stout, 72, of Marion, Illinois, passed away at 1:20a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at her home.

Rose was born on April 7, 1948 in Herrin, Illinois, a daughter of William Virgil and Violet Mae (McCree) O’Brien, Sr. She married Ronnie Gene Stout on June 14, 1966 in Energy, Illinois and he preceded her in death on November 16, 2010.

Rose lived a simple life, loved her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed making a home and watching cooking shows. She was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include her sons, Melvin Stout of Marion and Ronald (Tara) Stout of Marion; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Megan, Timothy, Ashleigh, Brandy, Christina, Adam, Suzie, and Erin; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Holland and Bertha Robinson; one brother, Edward O’Brien; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronnie Gene; son, Matthew

Stout; brother, William Virgil “Buddy” O’Brien, Jr.; and sister Betty Stewart.

Funeral services will be held at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Linda Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy, Illinois.

Visitation will be held at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. 

Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, social distancing is advised and the wearing of masks is encouraged.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or SIH Cancer Institute of Carterville and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home, 201 S. 13th Street, Herrin, Illinois 62948.
