Jolene Emily Smead

Jolene Emily Smead, age 64, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Herrin Hospital.

Jolene was born at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rock Island County, Illinois on February 25, 1956, the daughter of John Edward and Lois Mae (Cohn) Petit.

Jolene loved life and had a heart of gold. Most importantly, she loved her grandson, Austin John Norris.

Survivors include her children, Noah Justin (Karisa Anne) Norris and Emily Amber Smead; grandson, Austin John Norris; and sister, Michelle Mendoza.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jolene’s wishes were to be cremated. No services will be held at this time. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements.

    I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Jolene playing Yahtzee online about 4 years ago. We became Facebook friends and chatted several times on messenger. She was such a lovely positive lady and became a sister of the heart over the years. She will be truly missed.
