Michael Pease, 61, passed away July 10, 2019 from cardiac arrest. Mike was born in Marion but lived most of his life in Carbondale, having graduated from Carbondale Community High School and John A. Logan Community College.
He loved the outdoors and spent many years working at the Girl Scout Camp at Little Grassy Lake. In his later years, medical conditions precluded him from continuing to work so he transitioned to assisting his parents.
Mike was the third and youngest son of Gene and Louise Pease (both deceased) and leaves behind brothers Dr. Gerald Pease, Rick Pease, sister Sherry Hingtgen Broker, nephew Jeff Hingtgen and nieces Erica Swartz, Allison Fuentes, Molly Pease and Jenifer Pease and sister-in-law Laura Konishi-Pease, with whom he held a special bond.
Funeral services will be held Saturday July 20 at 1 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Keith Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
Mike will be remembered as a guy quick to laugh, always willing to lend a helping hand and a devoted son to his parents.
