William F. “Bill” Todd

William F. “Bill” Todd, Jr., 80, of Marion, died at 10:59 AM, Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Herrin Hospital.

Bill was born on November 21, 1933 in Centralia to William F. and Marguerite (Simpkins) Todd, Sr. He married Joyce A. Donoho on October 16, 1955. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2013.

Bill received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from SIU in Carbondale. He was a retired banker having served as President of the Bank of Egypt in Marion where he worked for 25 years (1960-1985), before it was sold to Banterra and then later was Past President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nations Bank, which later became Boatman’s Bank and finally Bank of America in Benton for 10 years.

He was active in the community and served as past president or active member of several civic organizations. In his free time and in retirement he enjoyed golfing with his friends and collecting vintage cars, especially his prized Clenet.

Son- Dr. William M. Todd and friend Janet Ping of Marion
Son- Alan D. Todd and wife Belinda of Herrin
Granddaughter- Caitlan Todd of Marion
Grandson- Corey McCuan and wife Jennifer of Marion
Great granddaughter- Alexa McCuan of Marion
Brother- Dr. Jerry L. Todd of Decatur
Several nieces and nephews and many close friends

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Jim Slone will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service, Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 N. Market Street/ Marion, IL 62959.

    Bill,

    I’m sorry for your loss. Your dad was a good friend and a true professional. He always helped me and
    Sue Ella with any financial need we had. In later years I would just call and tell him what I needed and he would say the money is there come by and sign the papers when you can. I know how bad health can wear on the whole family, you have my deepest sympathy.
