What great neighbors and memories! I’ll never forget when mom went into labor with brother Mark, I stayed with the Hudgens and brother David stayed with the Watkins’. Of course it was in the middle of the night. Then when we moved from the old neighborhood, they invited us for a spaghetti supper. That end of town or particular neighborhood sure had alot of good memories that I will cherish a life time.

So sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. She always had a genuine smile and a kind word. We met in the nursery at Third Baptist and made an immediate connection. Betty and Sam knew some of my family in Findlay, and I will certainly remember her with fondness. Blessings and comfort for Sam during this most difficult time.

Dear Sam & family, I just wanted to share a few of our special memories: bowling at the Findlay Bowl and while pregnant with Billy. Betty thought I was going to have him right on the alley, but he was born 2 weeks later. She was the kindergarten helper while Billy was in kindergarten. I remember all the good times at Bible study with Sandy & Ben Dawdy, John and Anne Kovalcik, Ric, Nancy Bible, the 10 Great Christians study, and the revival with John’s brother Mike Kovalcik. Several times we went to concerts by the Gaithers. She was a special friend and a great Christian lady, and I miss her already. Even if you hadn’t seen her in a long time she’d pick up right where you left off. There are too many special occasions to mention. Love always, Carolee.

Sam: We were very sad to hear of Betty’s passing. She was a good neighbor, a church-mate, and great associate at Heartland Regional Medical Center. A life well-lived is a treasure in this world to be rewarded in Heaven. The two of you are leaving a great, positive legacy with your children, grandchildren, and GREAT grandchildren. Keep your head up, Sam.

    Rev. Ric and Dr. Helen,

As you know, I didn’t know Mrs. Hudgens personally. But Rev. Ric, you always spoke so lovingly of your mom that I could feel her spirit coming through you in the last Bible study class that you taught at Second Baptist Church in Evanston. I simply wanted to say that while I mourn with you for your loss, I’m grateful that your mom knew the Lord and that she and your family were able to spend some quality time together, and that you all and your mom were prepared for her to leave this earthly world to spend eternity with Christ. God bless you all.
