Energy- Alta June Smith, of Energy, passed away at 1:30pm on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Helia Healthcare of Energy.
Alta was born in Johnston City on September 1, 1930, the daughter of John L. and Fay (Murrie) Becker. She married Eldon Smith in Johnston City on May 6, 1951. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1963.
Before retiring, Alta had worked at Smoller Brothers and Zwicks in Herrin where she was a seamstress, very good at alterations.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law- Mike and Kendra Smith of Herrin
Four Grandchildren- John Michael Smith of Johnston City
Denny Delaney of Johnston City
Christopher Lee of Lake Tahoe
Michael Ryan Lee of San Francisco
Three Great Grandchildren
Brother- Randall and Mildred Becker of Oklahoma City
Several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter- Tara Lynn Lee, and sister- Wilma Roberts.
As per Alta’s wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no services. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
