Marion- Lorene Elsie Morse, age 94, of Marion, formerly of Hurst, passed away at 8:05am on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the home of her daughter, Roberta, in Marion.
Lorene was born in UnionCounty on December 10, 1918, the daughter of Jack and Lillie (Dickerson) Barker. She married Richard Herman Morse in Jonesboro on March 17, 1938. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2000.
Mrs. Morse was a member of the FirstBaptistChurch in Hurst. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son- Carlos and Shelia Morse of Marion
Three daughters- Shirley and Ronald Ward of Herrin
Roberta McCoy of Marion
Patricia Matiskie of Royalton
Nine Grandchildren
Twelve Great Grandchildren
Three Great Great Grandchildren
Two brothers- Floyd Barker of Highland, IN
William Barker of Kentucky
Sister- Jeanette Guthrie of Arizona
Several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Richard Morse, grandson- Kevin Potmas, granddaughter- Rose Potmas, two sisters- Ethel Comer and Juanita Comer, and one brother- Paul Barker.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home at 201 S 13th Street in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at BlairsvilleCemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
