Geraldine M. "Gerry" Maleski
Herrin- Geraldine M. �Gerry� Maleski, 89, of Herrin, passed away a t 2:40 AM, Monday, February 1, 2011 at Herrin Hospital.
She was born on April 25, 1921 in Herrin to Tony & Maggie (Elena) Garavalia. She married Truman H. Lynn on Christmas Eve 1939 at the Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau and he preceded her in death in 1953. She married James �Jake� Maleski on September 5, 1959 in Royalton. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2003.
She formerly worked as a secretary for the Herrin Senior Citizens and the Williamson County Industrial Commission. She was a Christian and enjoyed word searches and tending to her flowers.
Survivors include-
Son- Gary Dale Lynn and wife Kathy of San Antonio, TX
Son- Randy Lynn and wife Judy of Herrin
Son- Dick Lynn and wife Vicki of Omaha, NE
Son- Rick Lynn and wife Kathy of Herrin
Son- Jon Maleski and wife Lisa of West Frankfort
Son- Jim A. Maleski and wife Alisa of Herrin
Sixteen Grandchildren
Seventeen Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother- Randolph Garavalia and granddaughter- Kristin Lynn.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Royalton. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/201 S. 13th / Herrin, IL 62948.
