Kenneth Ray Mays
Herrin- Kenneth Ray Mays, 57, of Herrin, passed away at 3:10 PM, Tuesday, January 19, 2011 at Herrin Hospital.
Kenneth was born on August 8, 1953 in Herrin to Harold & Judy (Switzer) Mays. He married Linda Bangs on February 25, 1989 in Herrin. She survives of Herrin.
He was a US Army Veteran who served during peacetime while stationed in Korea. Once discharged, he worked until retirement as a floor inspector at Maytag in Herrin.
He was a member of the Herrin American Legion and VFW as well as a member of Hurricane Baptist Church in Herrin.
Survivors include-
Wife- Linda Mays of Herrin
Son- Adam Mays and fianc� Rachel Wiseman of Herrin
Daughter- Wanda Bangs of Herrin
Daughter- Beth Mays of Atlanta, GA
Grandchildren- Joshua Mays, Mia Bangs & Kamden Walker
Sister- Janet Sanders & husband Bob of Herrin
Several nieces and nephews
Dogs- Moochie & Scrappy
He was preceded in death by his mother.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Ralph Brandon & Rev. Don Colson will officiate. A time of gathering will be held from 1:00 PM until time of service, Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are suggested to the family and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St./Herrin, IL 62948.
