Basil M. Bowen
Herrin- Basil Martin Bowen, 74, of Herrin, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010 in Herrin.
Basil was born on June 17, 1936 in St. Louis, Mo to James Albert & Martha Jean (Whitecotton) Bowen. He married Opal June Caraker on December 15, 1954 in Herrin. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2008.
He was a Truck Driver for Shawnee Express in Herrin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son- Martin Laverne Bowen, great grandson- Martin Toliver, brothers- Dallas & Gordon Bowen and four sisters- Bea, Jewel, Bonnie & Ida Lee.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 24, 1010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Terry Griffith will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home.
