Mary M. Odum

Herrin- Mary M. Odum, 88, of Herrin, passed away at 11:15 AM, Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.

Mary was born on March 28, 1920 in Dahlgren, IL to Louie Amon & Eliza Jane (Bridewell) Rumsey. She was a Christian and a founding member of Hurricane Baptist Church in Herrin.

Mary retired as a supervisor from Smoler Bros in Herrin. She was a member of the Illinois Ladies Garment Workers Union and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling to Colorado and Texas to see her grandchildren.

Survivors include-

Son- Jerry Odum & companion Jean Lamszy of Herrin
Son- Marion Odum & wife Chris of Collinsville, IL
Five Grandchildren
Eight Great Grandchildren
Four Great Great Grandchildren
Sister- Lena Mae Rumsey of Herrin
Several nieces, nephews and cousins

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service, Wednesday, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Salvation Army and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
