Memories of Aunt Wanda~

Her warm smile and a ready laugh.
Sunny, sparkling, joyful afternoons by the pool.
The twinkle in her eye, followed by a wink and a slice of homemade pie.
Her honest response, always spoken in love.
A gift of fresh, new Crayons – not the little box of 24, but the biggest and best with the sharpener built-in, because only the best would do.
Her closet full of wonders, dolls, and pageant dresses, helping us look, discover, seek, explore.
Whether summertime picnics or Christmas Eve traditions, a joy in family gathering close.
An unhurried walk to the lake, a thoughtful education on canoe safety, a delighted discussion of the life cycle of cicadas.
A fierce protector and supporter of family near and far.
Her home that smelled of love, laughter, joy, comfort, safety, and something delicious on the stove.
A home where I was always wanted, welcomed, and cuddled.
Sitting on her porch talking about life while Snowball the cat wrapped cozily around her ankle.
Her undying love and adoration for Uncle Curtis.
Her stern eye for Uncle Curtis when he threatened to come after us with a wet noodle.
Her brilliantly simple secret to a happy marriage that I carry with me still today.
Her deep contentment with life, nature, her past, and her future.
Her smile that always greeted me, happy to see that I was there, even after she could no longer remember who I was.
Always giving, always welcoming, always loving.
Her absence that will always be felt.
Always loved, always missed.
