Violet Mae Warren McKinnies

Marion - Violet Mae Warren McKinnies, 98 years of age, born March 5, 1920, went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2018 at 9:35 pm at Shawnee Christian Village, Herrin. She was the daughter of Grace Larkin of Chicago, granddaughter of Hattie Key of Simpson. She was lifelong resident of Spillertown and member of the Marion Second Baptist Church where she was a faithful member and treasurer of her Sunday School class for over 20 years. She married Carl Smith McKinnies in 1937 and together they had 10 children; Delores Yarbrough of Flossmore, Illinois, Jackie (deceased), Jan Wallace of Ft. Myers, Florida, Michael Gene McKinnies (Jane) of Mt. Vernon, Jim (Winetta) McKinnies of Willis, Michigan, Carla (Don) Underwood of Evansville, Indiana, George (Megan) McKinnies of Indianapolis, Indiana, Steve (deceased), Keith McKinnies, Tommy McKinnies both of Marion. She has many  grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Grandmother Hattie Key, Mother Grace Larkin and her husband of 35 years Carl, and two children Jackie and Steve. Funeral services will be Monday, May 7, 2018 at 11 am at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with  Rev. Mark Mohler of Marion Second Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5 pm – 8 pm at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Marion Second Baptist Church, envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.
