Thomas Eugene Owens

Thomas Eugene Owens, age 74, of Herrin, Illinois,  passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 at home in Herrin, Illinois.

Thomas was born May 08, 1947 in Johnston City, Illinois, a son of Lee Roy and Wilma Juanita (Herron) Owens. He married the love of his life, Martha Ellen Harrell. She preceded him in death. Thomas had retired from Maytag after more than 37 years of service. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. 

He is survived by four children, Melissa Duncan, Traci (Jeff) Boatright, Holly (William) Powell, and Gene Riley; seven grandchildren, Ashley Boatright, Tiffany Vaughn, Jeffery Boatright, Courtney Shadowens, Ryan Shadowens, Grayson Spezia, and Triton Powell; four siblings, Jerry Owens, Donna Dean, Rick Owens, and Keith Owens; and several great grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his spouse Martha Ellen Owens; two children, Crystal Owens and Thomas Owens; one granddaughter, Brittany Boatright; his parents, Lee Roy and Wilma Juanita (Herron) Owens; and one sister, Tammy Edwards.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6th, 2022 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022, 1:00 PM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin with military rites presented at graveside.
