Sarah Evelyn Johns

Sarah Evelyn Johns, age 98, of Marion, Illinois, passed away at 10:07am on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at her home in Marion, surrounded by her loving family.

Sarah was born November 09, 1923 in Williamson County, Illinois, a daughter of Harvey and Belle (Griffin) Borum. She married the love of her life, Arthur Lee Johns on November 09, 1940 in Jackson, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2014.

Mrs. Johns was a charter member of the New Dennison Baptist Church. More recently, she was a member of the Marion Third Baptist Church. In her spare time, Sarah enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching St. Louis Cardinal Baseball games. More than anything, Sarah loved her family and time spent with them, hearing about and enjoying all of her grandchildren's activities.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra L. (Danny) Camden and Pamela S. (Pat) Evans; four grandchildren, Christie L. (Robert) Henson, April C. (Rick) Mitter, Jonathan D. (Jessica) Evans, and Heather S. (Tom) Chandler; one sister-in-law, Sonja Johns; and her great grandchildren, Hannah E. Henson, Gabe A. (Macy) Henson, Seth E. Burkhart, Lily E. Burkhart, Joel E. Burkhart, and Hope J. Evans, great great grandchildren Weston A. Henson and Hudson J. Henson. She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Lee Johns; parents, two daughters, Leellyn Johns and Brenda K. Vandevoort; and six siblings.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 26th, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, 12:00 PM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Shacklee officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.
