Ruth Mae Evrard, age 90, of Pittsburg, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 at her home in Pittsburg, Illinois.

Ruth was born May 26, 1933 in Pittsburg, Illinois, a daughter of George and Elva (Marks) Harris. Ruth grew up in Pittsburg and lived there her entire life. She married the love of her life, David Evrard on March 14, 1948 in Pittsburg, IL. They started their family and Ruth was the "Ultimate Homemaker". She was a selfless mother and wife who worked tirelessly to provide for her husband and children with no complaints. She did house chores until late at night and was up early the next morning tending to the household duties. She and her husband grew a vegetable garden and she canned vegetables to provide wholesome meals, for her family, year around. She enjoyed cooking large meals and baking and loved her family with endless boundaries. She and her husband were members, and very charitable to the Pittsburg Freewill Baptist Church. She was very involved with the Church and Bible School. She worked as church custodian for many years and volunteered countless hours to the church.

She is survived by seven children, Keith (Donna) Evrard of Pittsburg, IL, Larry (Sherry) Evrard of Pittsburg, IL, Link Evrard of Marion, IL, David Lee (Pam) Evrard of Herrin, IL, Renee (Kent) Engram of Marion, IL, George "Jerry" Evrard of Pittsburg, IL, and Angie Evrard Ek of Marion, IL; eleven grandchildren, Mindy (Mike) Harvel, Melissa June (Paul) Johnson, Shawn (Crystal) Ellis, Kim (Brad) Goodley, Rodney (Jodi) Evrard, Jason Evrard, Hassie (Marty) Loucks, Christopher Evrard, Scott Evrard, Sam Garten, and Tiffany Dawn Haseker; 25 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a sister, Emma Layne of Goreville, IL. She is preceded in death by her husband David Evrard; daughter, Luetta Ellis; daughter-in-law Anita Evrard; one grandchild, Brock Evrard; her parents, George and Elva Harris; and three siblings, Edward Harris, Eddie Harris and Eva Rogers.

Visitation will be Friday, February 23rd, 2024 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 23, 2024, 11:00 AM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Pittsburg.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association or to the Alzheimer's Association.
