Robert Fietsam

Robert Fietsam, 92, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 9:20 am surrounded by his family at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Robert was born May 5, 1926 in Marion the son of Erwin and Dora (Strohmeier) Fietsam. He married Wanda Sweeney on September 14, 1951 in Marion and together they have been blessed to share 67 years of marriage. He was born into the Zion United Church of Christ where he served as deacon, elder and trustee. Robert served on the Farm Bureau Board, Williamson County Soil and Water Conservation Service Board and as a trustee on the Davis Prairie Cemetery Board.  He will be lovingly missed by his family. Survivors include his;Wife – Wanda Fietsam of Marion Son – Fred Fietsam (Linda) of Marion Son – Jerry Fietsam of Marion Son-in-law – Jim Freeman of Marion Grandchildren; Christy Underwood (Rob) of Marion John Fietsam (Kodi) of Lake St. Louis, Missouri Jennifer McCuan (Corey) of Marion Jeffrey Fietsam (Felicia) of Marion Lori Parrish (Ryan) of Marion James Fietsam of Marion Step-grandchild – Andrew Freeman (Alice) of Marion Eight great grandchildren; Tyler Underwood Kane Fietsam Zachary Underwood Halle Jo Rieger Alexa Lynn McCuan Bryant Dale Rieger Emersyn Fietsam Jackson Fietsam Sister – Francis Russell (Ronald) of Paducah, Kentucky Several nieces and nephews Preceded by his Parents, Daughter – Debra Freeman, Daughter-in-law – Pam Fietsam, Sister – Margaret (Jack) Simmons, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law – Roy and Vivian Sweeney, Sister-in-law – Louise (Tom) Morris, Sister-in-law – Dorothy (Bill) Tottleben. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2 pm at Zion United Church of Christ with Rev. John Holst officiating. Burial will follow at Davis Prairie Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday from 1 pm until the time of service at the church.  Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the Zion United Church Bereavement Fund.  Envelopes will be available the day of the service at the church or by mail to Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.
