September 8, 2001 Hurst- Ralph G. Anderson, 75, of Hurst formerly of Marion and Chicago, died at 9:15 A.M., Friday, September 7, 2001 at his home. Mr. Anderson was born on July 9, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Hans & Helga (Baltzerson) Anderson. He married Mary L. McNichols on October 29, 1947 in Chicago. She preceded him in death on December 25, 1999. Ralph was a member of Teamsters Local #705 and CTDU of Chicago. He retired in 1985 from Briggs Transportation of St. Paul, MN after working in the trucking industry for 42 years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, golfing (he was known to golf in the middle of winter using orange balls), traveling (when he was younger, he hitchhiked across the US), spending time with his family, and tinkering with Ham and CB radios. SURVIVORS: Son- Ralph H. Anderson- Hurst Dau & SIL- Patricia A. & Ronald Brink- Lockport, IL Grandchildren- Michael & Tarita Brink- Lockport, IL Sister- Violet Linder- Kenosha, WI Bro in law & sis in laws: Lawrence & Eleanor McNichols Michael & Bridget McNichols Several nieces & nephews Devoted Friends: William & Fay Carey- Colp, IL Carolyn Beers- Johnston City His parents, wife, three sisters, and two brothers preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 6, 2001 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
