Peggy Ellen Jeralds

Herrin- Peggy Ellen Jeralds, age 85, of Herrin, passed away at 5:38 AM on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Herrin Hospital. Peggy was born August 10, 1932 in Herrin, IL to Walter and Bessie (Waggley) Elders. She lived in Herrin her whole life and met her soulmate and best friend, William J. Jeralds, in the third grade. She married Mr. Jeralds, December 30, 1950 in Herrin. They shared 68 years together. Mrs. Jeralds was a homemaker who loved to quilt, bake, and go on outings with her family. In her day, she especially loved dancing with her husband, William. Survivors include two children- Connie S. Jeralds Perrine (Paul) Keith A. Jeralds (Georgia) Grandchildren- Rebecca E.P. Wade (Monty) Matthew D. Perrine Amber N. Powell (Brad) Aaron M. Jeralds (Traci) Great Grandchildren- Logan W. Wade Lindy M. Jeralds She was preceded in death by her parents. A graveside services will be held at 9am on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Colson officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
