Benton-Pamela “Pam” Sue Smith, 65, formerly of West Frankfort, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 6:13am at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Pam was born on April 5, 1954 in DuQuoin to Kenneth “Kenny” and Nora (Shelton) Brandon.

Pam was a RN for 35 years at several local hospitals, but worked most recently as a nurse supervisor at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.  She was a Christian and member of Lighthouse Church in Royalton.  She was a great sister, super daughter and dedicated mother.  She enjoyed peace, love and all things family.  She was a “cool” mom who was a quick learner and the “family doctor”.  She was always helpful and caring, had a big heart and as the matriarch of the family she kept everyone together.  She will be dearly missed.

Father-Kenny Brandon of DuQuoin

Daughter- Melody Smith and husband Charles of West Frankfort

Daughter- Elizabeth Baihaghy and fiancé Ron Burmester of West Frankfort

Grandchildren:

Auron, Royal and Lucas Burmester of West Frankfort

Gage, Colton and Khloe Smith of West Frankfort

Brothers:

Randall J. Brandon and wife Rosa of California City, CA

David A. Brandon of Elkville

Nephews:

Joshua Brandon of Nashville

Jacob Brandon of Pinckneyville

Niece-Christine Schaefer of Elkville

She was preceded in death by her mother; step mother, Delores Brandon and sister in law, Linda Brandon.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 2pm at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.  Rev. David Betts will officiate.  Inurnment will be held at a later date at Cundiff Cemetery in Blairsville.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 12pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
