Marion- Nancy Lyn “Nancy Noodle” Smith, 71, of Marion, passed away at 9:40 AM, Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Nancy was born on May 4, 1946 in Aurora, IL to Edward and Mary O. (Gray) Smith. She worked as entertainment director and greeter at Helen Honey’s in Herrin. She was catholic. Nancy Noodle was the life of the party and never met a stranger. She loved singing, dancing and talking on the phone, picnics, fishing, parties and St. Louis ballgames. She especially loved her baby doll “Jimmy”. Survivors include- Brother- Michael G. Smith of Paducah, KY (or Tatucah, FL – as she would say) One niece and three nephews Her many friends and family at Our Directions in Marion She was preceded in death by her parents and sister- Linda S. Morey The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until time of service, Thursday, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. A Celebration of her birthday will be held after services. Memorial donations are suggested to the Senior Building located on 800 East Herrin Rd/ Herrin, IL 62948. Donations can be made either at the funeral home or directly to the Senior Building.
