Melvin F. Smith

Melvin Frederick Smith, age 58, of Commerce, Texas, died Saturday, October 13th, 2001 at 2:00 A.M. at his brothers home in Marion. Visitation for Mrs. Smith was held Wednesday, October 17th from 10:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. followed by his funeral at Miracle Temple Church in Eldorado. Rev. Tom Flewellen officiated. Burial was at Lake Creek Cemetery, Marion. Mr. Smith was born August 4, 1943 in Lewsitta, Virginia, the son of Clarence W. and Gertrude (Maith) Smith. They preceded him in death. Melvin had worked as an auto body repairman at Foley Sweitzer Motors in Marion. His survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Troy F. & Donna Smith of Marion; one daughter & son-in-law, Tracey L. & James Chambers of Commerce, Texas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Dennis R. & Patricia Smith of Marion and Clarence W. & Anna Smith of Weems, Virginia; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Clara Samuels, Rev. Charlotte Marks, and Mary & Monroe Lackey, all of Callao, Virginia.
