Mary L. Holland

Mary L. Holland, age 82, of Bush, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 4:45 a.m. in Tennova Hospital, Clarksville, Tennessee.

Mary was born on September 8, 1937 in Carterville, Illinois, a daughter to Elijah and Easter (Thomas) Maze.  She was united in marriage to Carl Thomas Holland on August 7, 1954 in Williamson County, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on October 24, 2017 after 63 years of marriage.  To this union two daughters and three sons were born.  Mary was a homemaker, a member of the Royalton Apostolic Church, Royalton, Illinois and previously a member of West Monroe Apostolic Church, Herrin, Illinois, where she had enjoyed singing in the choir.  Mary was always giving of herself to her family and others who were in need.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jean Holland of Bush; three sons, Carl L. (Julie) Holland of Royalton, Ricky L. (Geana) Holland of Eldridge, Missouri and Jimmy D. (Barbara) Holland of Vienna, Illinois; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine (Elwood) Holland of Bush and Lydia Maze of Bush; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Thomas Holland; an infant daughter, Janet Lucille Holland; one grandson, Brent J. Holland; and seven siblings.

Funeral services will be held at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home, Herrin on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Donald Maas officiating.  Burial will follow in Blairsville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
