Mary Barnett

Royalton – Mary Barnett, 90, of Royalton, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 4:45 at the home of her niece where she was surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born January 30, 1927 in Freeman Spur, the daughter of Lee and Vida (Mann) Sanders.  She married Leo Barnett on January 27, 1946 in Morganfield, Kentucky and together they shared 51 years of marriage until his death on November 27, 1997. She was of the Apostolic faith, Mary retired from Smolers. She is survived by her Niece – JoAnn Sanders of Royalton, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband – Leo Barnett, Son – Dennis Barnett, Brother – Joe Sanders  and Sister – Violet Strain. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Southern Illinois and Herrin Hospital for the loving care that their Aunt received. Graveside services will be Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11 am at Freeman Cemetery in Freeman Spur.  Rev. Don Taylor will officiate.  Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery.  Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements.
