Martha Ann Gregge

Carterville- Martha Ann Gregge, 85, of Carterville passed away at 12:20 AM, Sunday, March 18, 2018 at her residence. Martha was born on October 9, 1932 in Tamaroa, Illinois to Elzo and Mary (Arnold) Ridgeway. She married Delbert (Doug) Thurman Gregge on April 28, 1953 in Herrin, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2005. They shared 52 years of marriage. They had eight children together. Martha worked as a homemaker and cared for children. She was a God fearing woman of Christian faith. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, playing bingo, and rummage sales. Survivors include- Children- Terry Tripplett of Herrin, Illinois; Delbert (Debbie) Gregge of Herrin, Illinois; Mary (Norman) Bailey of Energy, Illinois; Connie (Brad) Friend of West Frankfort, Illinois; Scott (Laura) Gregge of Marion, Illinois; Mike Gregge of Carterville, Illinois; Matt (Cassy) Gregge of Herrin, Illinois; Mark Gregge of Marion, Illinois 13 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren Brother- Audie Ridgeway of McHenry, Illinois Sister- Nila Casey of Luckenbach, Texas Many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Betty Wagley, and brothers, Bud Ridgeway, David Ridgeway and Lionel Lee Ridgeway. Services will be held at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, Illinois on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Friends may gather at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Rev. Ivan Ryan will be officiating. Burial will be at Herrin City Cemetery immediately following the services. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
