Margaret E. Sipe

November 2, 1927 — February 9, 2019

Lake of Egypt- Margaret E. Sipe, age 91, of Lake of Egypt, passed away at 10am on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion. Margaret was born in Harvey, Illinois on December 2, 1927, the daughter of Dewey and Emma (Buddenbaum) Goot. She married Paul Sipe and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2017. Margaret was born and lived in the Chicago area for half of her life, but she moved to S. Illinois where her parents and family originated and where she had spent many summer holidays.  She loved the people and the pace of life in S. Illinois, especially that of her her church communities:  Warder St. Baptist Church for many years, and after she was house-bound, McKinney Chapel just a short walk from her house at the Lake of Egypt.  She was always concerned with helping other people, so it is not surprising that her last wishes were for her body to do the same. Survivors include: Son- Stephen and Catherine Sipe of Marion Son- David and Amy Sipe of Marion Daughter- Carol and David Pileggi of Jerusalem, Israel Daughter- Leslie and Andy Gibbons of Elkport, Iowa Thirteen Grandchildren Several Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother- Lionel Goot, and sister- Louann Kramer. As per Mrs. Sipe’s wishes, her body will be donated to Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The family will hold private memorial services for the family at a later date, upon the return of her cremains. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with her final arrangements.
