Marion- Lynn Oliver Strobel, Sr., age 65, of Marion, passed away at 3:47pm on Monday, June 26, 2017 at his home in Marion.
Lynn was born in Marion on December 19, 1951, the son of Amos and Helen (Wallace) Strobel. He married Penny Norris at the Zion Church in Marion on November 6, 1982. She survives in Marion.
Lynn farmed until he sold the farm in 1987. He had previously worked as an X-Ray Technician for Herrin Hospital, and later as an X-Ray Technician at the Marion Federal Prison. On June 24, 2017 Lynn set an Illinois State and World Record at the R.A.W. Deadlift Competition, lifting 507 pounds.

Daughter- Salena and Jason Young of Springfield
Grandchildren- Payton Strobel

Sister- Suzanne and Doug Gentry of Avon Park, FL
Nephew- Gregory Gentry of Avon Park, FL
Nephew- Stephen Strobel II of Australia
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Kevin McNeely officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
