Lora Louise McRoy

Lora Louise McRoy, age 81, of Johnston City, Illinois,  passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at her home in Johnston City, Illinois.

Lora was born May 28, 1941 in New Burnside, Illinois, a daughter of Mary (Henderson) Norris. She married the love of her life, Lindle Lee McRoy on June 27, 1959 in Marion. He preceded her in death on August 1, 2014.

Prior to her retirement, Louise had worked in the housekeeping department for various hotels. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal basebal fan. 

She is survived by five children, Anita (Jim) Riggs, Danny (Kristine) McRoy, Heath (Kim) McRoy, Lora (Scott) Shadowens, and Meredith (Wesley) Hutson; twelve grandchildren- Jason Whittle, Kelly Hill, Ryan Whittle, Krystal Green, Heath McRoy, Nicholas Shadowens, Courtney Marks, Dylan Hutson, Lane Hutson, Nathan McRoy, Brianna McRoy, and Victoria Riggs; eighteen great grandchildren- Madreah, McKenzie, Ethan, Kaylyne, Rhett, Aden, Ashlyn, Aubrie, Hunter, Rylee, Hadlee, August, Aaliyah, Camber, Norah, Taytum, Willow, Maisey, and one on the way; one great great grandson- Denver; and one sister- Lynda Lindsey.  

She is preceded in death by her husband Lindle Lee McRoy; two grandchildren, Travis McRoy and Shelby McRoy; her mother, Mary (Henderson) Norris; and three siblings, Mary Ann Bozarth, Rita Ashby, and David Norris.

Visitation will be Monday, January 30th, 2023 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 30, 2023, 1:00 PM at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Andy Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion.
