Lisa Kay Stroud

Lisa Kay Stroud, 60, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 9:13 a.m. at her home.

Lisa was born to Donna J. (Sussenbach) and William E. Cook on April 30, 1961, in Litchfield, IL. She married James Stroud on November 1, 1986.

Lisa was a light in every room she entered. She was tirelessly devoted to her family. Her daughters were the center of her world, along with her husband, brother, nephews, and nieces.  She could always be found in the stands of any game, swim meet, recital, or performance cheering proudly. She was both the rock and safe haven through her family's triumphs and hardships alike.

She spent her free time doting on her two four-legged family members. Chewy, who was her joyful companion, and Buckley, her sweet protector. She also had a passion for history, frequently embarking on historical excursions with her girls - always excited to learn about the stories of those who came before her and how they shaped the world she lived in.

She was a steadfast Christian, she enjoyed studying, reading, and learning from God’s word. However, studying was never enough for her, as she actively practiced the fruits of the spirit namely kindness, joy, and faithfulness in her everyday life. But more than anything, she lived her life in service to those around her with Christ-like love.

Lisa served the Southern Illinois community as a realtor with Century 21 House of Realty for over 12 years, earning many awards of excellence. She was dedicated to acting with integrity and making a potentially daunting experience not only comfortable but also exciting for her clients.

She faced every day with strength, joy, and dignity. Above all, Lisa was confident in her purpose on this earth - showing love to others with all that she did. Her memory endures through those that love her and all whose lives were brightened by the light she shined in this world.

She is survived by her husband Jim Stroud, two children, Rachel Stroud, and Emily Stroud. Her brother Steven (Moya) Cook and sons, Airman 1st Class Jeremy Cook, Nathan Cook, Matthew Cook, and Jordan Cook. Sister-in-law Karla Smith (Stroud) and daughters Jamie Cullen and Sara MacDonald; Brother-in-law Kenneth (Kelly) Stroud and daughters Georgia Stroud and Julia Stroud; and Michael (Debbie) Stroud and children Madeline Stroud, Rebekah Stroud, and John Stroud. In addition to her beloved dogs Chewy and Buckley. She is preceded in death and now joyfully reunited with her parents Donna (Sussenbach) Cook and William Cook.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 11 am until 1 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.  Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Rev. Jim Slone officiating.  Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Agape Christian High School or Marion Park District. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.

Lisa was a wonderful and kind person, the type you don't get to cross paths with very often. We had lots of backyard conversations, always enjoyable. She was so thoughtful with my young kids. She will be missed. God Bless the Cook and Stroud Families.

Lisa helped us find our home. Not only a part of our church family but a friend too. Would see her and Rachel and or Bill and Chewy about everyday thru Ct St Drive Thru. She will be missed. May the Lord put his arms around the family and comfort you at this time.

My heart is broken for her families loss, yet it rejoices for the splendor she is experiencing in the presence and rewatds of her Savior and God.

I am so sorry to see that we have lost Lisa. She was one of the nicest people that I have ever known. She carried such a sweet spirit with her. I had the privilege of being Lisa's hairdresser for many years, which extended to her family and mother-in-law. I'm sorry that she is gone at such a young age. She will be missed by many. Her memory is precious.
