Leon D. Gool

Marion- Leon D. Gool, 69, of Marion died at 9:03 AM, Sunday, November 25, 2001 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Gool was born on September 11, 1932 in Van Lear, KY to Charles & Esta (McDowell) Gool. He married Patricia Ann Peters. She preceded him in death on January 30, 1972. Leon was retired as Staff Sergeant from the US Air Force in 1971. Survivors: Son & dau in law- Douglas Allen & Sharon Gool- Florrisant, MO Son & dau in law- Michael Eugene & Kim Gool- Columbia, MO Son & dau in law- Steve & Kathy Oliver- Waltonville, IL Dau & son in law- Bonnie Sue & George Mathews- Marion Daughter- Jennifer Lee Gool- Belleville, IL Daughter- Sarah Jo Nell Gool- Belleville Grandchildren: Timothy, Robin, & Toni Mathews- Marion Erica Gool- Florrisant, MO Cory, Josh, & Ryan Gool- Columbia, IL Kristin, Derek, Brandon, & Zach Oliver- Waltonville Emily & Cassidy Gool- Belleville Brother- Gene Gool- Columbus, OH Brother- Ronny Gool- Columbus, OH Brother- Paul Moore- Columbus, Ohio Brother- Clarence Spears- Columbus, Ohio Many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death his parents, wife, daughter; Pamela Ann Gool, stepfather; Andrew Moore. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 29, 2001 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Paul Lee will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-8:00 PM Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 2:30 PM, Thursday, November 29, 2001 at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. The US Air Force Honor Guard will provide full military rites at the graveside. Memorial donations may be made to "Helping Our Own" (a charity through St. Louis University Hospital) and will be accepted at the funeral home.
