Lee Roy Brandon

Herrin- Lee Roy Brandon, age 87, of Herrin, passed away at 7:17pm on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Westside Care Center in West Frankfort.

Lee Roy was born at home in Clifford 8 on April 20, 1932, the son of Harmon and Lola Muriel (Rexroth) Brandon. He married Jeanette L. Cavalli in Herrin on July 4, 1952. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2017.

Mr. Brandon was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. He was an active member of the Southern Illinois Community for many years. He worked for Pepsi, the Herrin Chamber of Commerce, and the Illinois Development Finance Authority. Lee Roy served on the school boards of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Herrin High School, and the SIU Alumni Board. He was active in Boy Scouts, Explorer Scouts, and Girl Scouts. Lee Roy proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He played basketball at Herrin High School and at Southern Illinois University as well as minor league baseball in the St. Louis Cardinal Organization.

Daughter- Yvonne Marie and John Davis of Winthrop Harbor, IL

Daughter- Leanne Stevens and Fiance Mark Linze of Vergennes, IL

Eight Grandchildren- Emmy Brandon and Jarrod Brubaker of Corvallis, OR

     Alli Jo Brandon of Harrisville, MI

     Jennifer Davis of Chicago, IL

     Jeffrey Davis of Winthrop Harbor, IL

     Joseph and Nicole Davis of Chicago, IL

     Joshua and Teresa Timmermann of Vancouver, British Columbia

     Jordan Timmermann and Corinne Russell of Seattle, WA

     Jillian Timmermann of Seattle, WA

One great grandson- Logan Timmermann of Vancouver, British Columbia

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother- Richard Brandon, and his sister- Mildred Greenwood.  

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral services. Private inurnment will be held at San Carlo Cemetery. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
