Laverne Arthur Profitt

Laverne Arthur Profitt, age 94, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 at Reflections Memory Care in Carterville, Illinois.

Laverne was born September 19, 1927 in Clifford, Illinois, a son of John and Sara (Eagle) Profitt. He married the love of his life, Marian Francis on November 24, 1948 in Herrin, IL. Prior to his retirement, Laverne had worked as a butcher.

He is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Ray) Colombo, Diane (Steven) Gottschalk, and Lecia (Mark) Newbolds; seven grandchildren, Ray (Jennifer) Colombo Jr., Ryan (Renee) Colombo, Phillip Colombo, Bryan (Ann) Gottschalk, Loree Gottschalk, Tiffany (Casey) Newbolds, and Keith Bevely; fifteen great grandchildren- Sophia, Tyler, Trevor, Rayner, Hanalee, Danny, Keith, Ryan (Kelsie), Alex, Dewey, Dustyn, Mason, Asia, Eli, and Kayden; great great grandson- Daxton Gottschalk; great great granddaughter- Neverleigh Gottschalk and one great great granddaughter on the way.

He is preceded in death by his wife Marian Profitt, his parents, and two grandchildren, Mark Anthony Newbolds and Tanya (Newbolds) Bevely.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5th, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022, 12:00 PM at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Military honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard Ritual Team comprised of the Carterville American Legion Post 347, the Herrin American Legion Post 645, the Herrin VFW Post 1567, and the United States Navy Detail Unit.
