Judy Lynn Melvin

Carterville- Judy Lynn Melvin, 64, of Carterville, passed away at 12:48AM, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at her home. Judy was born on October 15, 1954 in Chicago to Bernard and Ruth Wunsh. She married Nealy Melvin on November 20, 1971 in Chicago. She was retired having worked many years as a district manager for Waffle House in Atlanta, GA. Judy was a Christian and loved life and spending time with her family. When she was able she enjoyed bowling, sometimes twice a week, with her husband and playing Scrabble with her family. She also enjoyed all things science fiction and time spent outdoors fishing. Survivors include- Husband- Nealy Melvin of Carterville Daughter- Tara Melvin of Clearwater, FL Daughter- Leslie Bedford of Gainesville, FL Son- Aaron Melvin and wife Emily of Energy Five grandchildren One great grandchild Brother- Steve Wunsh of Chicago Sister- Sue Stacey of Florida Brother- Tony Wunsh of Chicago Many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, sister- Shelly and brother- David. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 2, 2018 at Plaster’s Grove Cemetery in Thompsonville. Rev. Kerry Cox will officiate. There will be a short visitation from 11 AM until 12:00 PM Friday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
