Jerry L. Harris

Jerry L. Harris, age 84, of Creal Springs, Illinois,  passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Jerry was born January 11, 1938 in Bloomfield, Illinois, a son of Bill and Anna  (Gray) Williamson.  He married the love of his life, Betty J. Cline on January 31, 1959.  Together they shared 63 years of marriage .  Jerry was a member of Arnold View Freewill Baptist and had been employed at Freeman Orient #4 Mine. In his younger years, Jerry raced motorcycles.  Jerry was an extraordinary horse trainer and had a love for horses and barrel racing.  Jerry competed with his barrel racing horses area wide and he "Competed to Win". Jerry was a member of UMWA and American Quarter Horse Association, and had been named "Horseman of the Year".  

He is survived by his spouse Betty J. Harris of Creal Springs, IL; three children, Tracey A. (Rick) Doss of Creal Springs, IL, Kathy L. (Tony) Green of Stonefort, IL, and David L. (Kim) Harris of Pittsburg, IL; six grandchildren, Tera (Chris) Lannom, Derrick W. Doss, Bo Harris, Lily Harris, Ethan Harris, and Cooper Harris; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Lannom and Noah Lannom; and two siblings, Roma Keeney of Marion, IL and Steven (Elaine) Williamson of Albers, IL.  He is preceded in death by one grandchild, Will Parker Harris and his parents, Anna and Bill Williamson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 16th, 2022 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2022, 2:00 PM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Ryan officiating. Burial will follow at Shed Church Cemetery in Marion, Illinois.
