James Leo "Jim" Lewis

James Leo "Jim" Lewis, age 68, of Marion, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at his home in rural Marion, Illinois.

Jim was born August 30, 1955 in Dexter, Missouri, a son of Everett and Eva (Harp) Lewis. When he was young his family moved to Aurora, IL where he grew up and attended school. Jim was out on his own at a young age and he worked hard to make ends meet. He married his first wife at a young age and started his family, continuing to work hard to provide, working multiple jobs if necessary. In 1991 he moved his family to Johnston City and drove for BFI. In 1996 he bought 10 acres south of Pittsburg and worked hard to make a wonderful home for his family. He married Suzanne L. McCullough on December 31, 1992 in Herrin, IL. Jim was very mechanically inclined and could fix anything. He was always working on things and enjoyed buying and selling. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jim was known as "A Jack of All Trades, and a Master of None".

He is survived by his wife Suzanne L. Lewis of Marion, IL; six Children, Jimmy L. Lewis Jr. of Marion, IL, Jennifer Klingel of Aurora, IL, Mark E. (Margie) Lewis of North Aurora, IL, Sarah L. Moore of Marion, IL, Jesse (Holly) Lopez of Aurora, IL, and Shane (Tracy) Lopez of Montgomery, TX; nine Grandchildren, Braxton Lewis, Branden Block, Kendyl Klingel, Christian Lewis, Emily Brindle, Jazlyn Lopez, Jesse Lopez, Isaac Edlemon, and Damian Virgin; four Great grandchildren; three Siblings, Allen (Suzie) Lewis of TN, Betty Buys of TN, and Wanda (Bill) Collins of KY; and a Special Cousin Nelson (Kendra) Lewis. He is preceded in death by one son, Matthew Hannan and his parents, Everett Lewis, Harvey (Eva) Tunnell.

Visitation will be Monday, January 22nd, 2024 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 22, 2024, 11:00 AM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill in Marion, Illinois.
