Marion- James Leroy White, age 82, of Marion, passed away at 11:42pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Herrin Hospital.
James was born in Marion on March 26, 1936, the son of Joseph Elmer and Helen Marie (Whiting) White. He married Linda Sue Dillon in Marion on August 22, 1964. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2013.
Prior to his retirement, James was a coal miner. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Operating Engineers, VFW, and American Legion. James was a proud United States Marine, having served in the Korean War.

-Grandchildren- Ramonica Webb, Naomi Wright, Kate Gaskill, Jacob Gaskill, Philip James Gillmore, Connor Lawson, Cassidy Hallesy, Jordyn Grey, Cayden Childers, Madylen Childers, Camden White, Carly White, and Caylin White
-Great Grandchildren- Taryn Grimm, Zoie Webb, Evan Webb, Taya Copher, Taci Wright, Tabitha Wright, Marek Ross, Danica Gillmore, and Jacob Gillmore
-One Great Grandbaby on the way- Baby Hallesy
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother- Larry White, and sister- Shirley Bacon.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Glenn Sanders officiating. Entombment will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Military honors will be provided by members of the Marion VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147, and flag detail unit of the United States Marine Corp. A time of visitation will be held from 11am until 1pm on Sunday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
