J.B. Tipton

October 27, 1933 — September 10, 2017

J. B. Tipton, 83, of Charlotte, NC went home to be with the Lord, October 10th, 2017 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. Born October 27th 1933 in Yancey County NC, he was the son of the late Jake and Ethel Tipton. J.B. was the loving husband of the late Jenella Tipton who died September 17th 2003. He was a graduate of Clearmont High School in North Carolina and Lincoln Welding School in Cleveland Ohio. He served his country proudly for four years and was a veteran of the United States Army. J.B was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C. Mr. Tipton retired in 2013 from Chantilly Welding Company, a business he began in 1970. J.B. is survived by his children; Kevin Tipton, his wife Celia Tipton from Charlotte N.C.; Kimberly Dyer and her husband Pastor David Dyer who reside in Energy, Illinois, four grandchildren; Blake Dyer, Hunter Tipton, Dakota Dyer and Landon Tipton, brother Oscar Tipton in Charlotte, NC and sister Juanita Hall of Lenoir NC. He was preceded in death by his brother Clyde Tipton of Hanover, PA and his sister Elouise Cavin of Charlotte, NC. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00pm Friday September 15th 2017 at McEwen Funeral Services. 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 with Pastor David Dyer. Graveside service will immediately follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday night September 14th 2017 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at McEwen Funeral Services.Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin assisted the family locally.
