Hugh Robert Sayers

Herrin- Hugh Robert "Junior" Sayers, 68, of Herrin died at 1:47 A.M., Saturday, August 10, 2001 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Mr. Sayers was born on January 7, 1933 in Hopkins County, KY to Hugh O. & Evelene (Purdy) Sayers. Hugh was a resident of the Pathway House in Herrin. He enjoyed the outdoors, such as fishing and spending time with his friends and staff at the Pathway House. He most enjoyed the thrill and excitement of roller coasters at amusement parks. SURVIVORS: Sister- Loretta Poole- Mokena, IL Half Sister- Doris Haire- Hopkinsville, KY Nephew- Robert Poole- Mokena Nephew- Jeff Poole- Mokena His parents preceded him in death. At the families wish Mr. Sayers's body was donated to Southern Illinois University- School of Medicine. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
