George Fisher

Herrin- George A. Fisher, 62, of Herrin, passed away at 1:45 AM, Thursday, April 25, 2019 at his home.

George was born on June 19, 1956 in Herrin to George Howard and Louise (DeBernardi) Fisher.

He was retired from the City of Herrin where he worked more than 30 years, the last several as Department Manager of the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Herrin.

George was catholic and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.  He was also a member of the Pigeon Inn in Herrin and several card playing groups.  In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports (especially San Diego State Basketball), playing cards and horse racing.  He was a stubborn man with a witty sense of humor who will be dearly missed by his close friends and family.

Girlfriend- Kathy Paddock of Herrin

Son- Brian Fisher of Phoenix, AZ

Daughter- Andrea Fisher of Herrin

Son- Chris Fisher of Herrin

Grandson- Jase Carter Zimmerman of Herrin

Brothers:

                John Fisher and wife Joyce of Herrin

                Steve Fisher and wife Angie of San Diego, CA

Several nieces and nephews

Former wife- Jeanne Fisher of Herrin

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister- Maria Fisher.

The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.  Father Ray Schultz will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin.  Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Sunday, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Education Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
