Gail Marie De Ciechi

March 4, 1952 — January 10, 2023

Marion, Illinois

Gail Marie DeCiechi, 70, of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Gail was born March 4, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri and is survived by her parents Doris and Joseph DeCiechi of St. Charles, Missouri and her father Gale Wiley of Cedar Hill, Missouri.

Gail was first known as an artist having painted many murals at businesses in Volusia County, Florida, many of them commissioned.  She was a true artist and appreciated artist like Monet, Rembrandt and VanGogh and one could see their influences in Gail's art.

Gail lived the life of an artist as well.  She was a world traveler, visiting Europe, Czechoslovakia, Poland and England.  She lived in her beloved Maui, Hawaii for 20 years and then moved to her beloved New Smyrna Beach, Florida for 20 years.  Due to her health she moved home to be with family in Missouri and finally to Marion.

Gail was a true hippy from the 60's and was a carefree, "let's do it"  kind of person.  She loved the ocean, karaoke and life.  In her mind she was always 20 something.  She was shocked that she had gotten old.  She often asked "How did I get old?".

In addition to her parents Gail is also survived by her three brothers: Joseph DeCiechi of St. Charles, Missouri; Tracy Wiley of Caledonia, Missouri and Scott Wiley of Imperial, Missouri.  Aunts Joyce Benge of Perryville, Missouri and Dorothy Booten of Marion, many loving nieces and nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her step-mother Mickey Wiley.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Courry and the ICU staff at Heartland Regional Medical Center for their wonderful care.

It was Gail's wish to be cremated with her remains to be placed beneath a tree with family that has went before her.  Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
