Frieda M. Webb

Frieda Mae Webb, age 90, left this earth peacefully with her loving family at her side, Friday, November 10, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. Born October 3, 1927, Frieda began her extraordinary life born on a farm near the village of Wolf Lake in southern Illinois. The eldest daughter of Mildred and Golbern Vincent, Frieda was one of twelve siblings and found her path to care for her younger brothers and sisters. Her most rewarding roles were daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. In her early career, Frieda worked as an LPN at Marion Memorial Hospital. She later worked with her second husband, Arthur E. Webb, in various businesses including auto sales and rentals, and raising and racing thoroughbred horses on their ranch in Marion. She finished her career in her senior years, working with many friends at Sam’s Club in Marion. Into her 80s, she enjoyed the people she served each week at Sam’s with a smile. Frieda is survived by one brother, Kenneth Vincent, two sisters, Linda Walker and husband Roy Walker, Makanda, Illinois, and Carolyn Stephens and husband Bill Stephens, Aurora, Illinois. Preceding her in death are her husbands, Alex Oland Frey and Arthur E. Webb, her mother and father, Mildred and Golbern Vincent, and her brothers Arthur, Charles, Russell, Golbern, Robert, Ira, Donald Larry, and Ronald Garry. Frieda leaves behind her children, Alex Frey and wife Deborah, Makanda, Illinois, Robert Frey, Carterville, Illinois, Linda Jones and husband Robert, Herrin, Illinois, Lesa Hunt and husband Brad, Marion, Illinois, and grandchildren, Kevin Frey and wife Gina, Amherst, New Hampshire, Brian Frey, Herrin, Illinois, Daniel Frey, Denver, Colorado, Alexandria Frey, Carterville, Illinois, Dawn L. Corey and husband Scott, Granite City, Illinois, Stephanie K. Miller, Raeford, North Carolina, Brandon Jones, Herrin, Illinois, Ashley Farthing and husband Britt, Carterville, Illinois, Alyssa Hunt, Marion, Illinois, and great grandchildren, Walter G. Nieds IV, Carterville, Illinois, Lain Axton Farthing, Carterville, Illinois, Trevor Corey, Granite City, Illinois, Kirstie Miller and Megan Miller, both of Raeford, North Carolina. Frieda also leaves her loving sisters-in-law, Carolyn Vincent, Makanda, Illinois, and Mary Jane Vincent, Phoenix, Arizona and many nieces and nephews across the United States who love and miss her. Frieda’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff at Century Assisted Living and Celtic Hospice for the devoted care they provided for her. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 1 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Bunfill officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill  Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 11 am until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network or Parkinson’s Research Foundation.
