Fredia Terry

Fredia Bernice Terry, age 62, of Marion, passed away peacefully at 11:02 pm on Monday, November 01, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Fredia was born July 31, 1959 in Vincennes, Indiana the daughter of James Alvin Terry and Devedia Bernice (Cornwell) Terry.

She is the mother to:

      Kenny Terry of Stiritz

Kathy Eckols and fiancé Michael Thomas of Marion

      Kelly Watford of West Frankfort.

Grandmother to:

Chase, Micah, Wyatt, Noah, Ashton, Ezekiel, Migual, Nicolas, Gaje, Tangela, and Lorrianna

Sister to:

Darrell and Pam Terry of Petersburg Indiana

Diana and Rev. George Needham of Campbell Missouri

Jimmy and Lorrie Terry of Campbell, Missouri

Sammy and Nancy Terry of Campbell, Mo

Cindy and Glenn Marks of Christopher, Il

Trisha and Rev. Richard Watson of Dexter, Mo

She was loved by all of her nieces, nephews, her aunts, uncles and all her cousins

She was loved by her lifetime friend of 42 years Pat Smith of Marion

She was preceded in death by parents- James and Devedia Terry, Sister- Carla Tislow and Niece- Sarah Jane Tislow.

Fredia was an active member of the Carterville First Apostolic Church.

Fredia loved and served the Lord with everything she had, working for God and loving it. She was active in many different bible study groups and worked the prayer line at TCT Christian TV. Fredia was a loving and caring person that loved to go anywhere to take care of people, everyone’s taxi driver, out to eat Chinese, go and see babies and just go to get out. She was the type of person that would never eat unless she knew everyone in the house had been fed and taken care of. Fredia was rarely at home due to the fact she loved to be surrounded by family and friends. She treasured holding on to special things, whether items from my grandmother or when one of her grandkids or friends made her something.  Even if it was a just a drawing, she treasured it and wouldn’t throw it away. She had a hard life but still kept living, loving her family and her friends. Fredia was much stronger than she ever thought she was. She loved God and only wanted to see her kids and grandkids be successful in their lives and live for God.

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. George Needham officiating. Fredia was always a good friend Of our family. We have lots of great memories with our families at church. And I always enjoyed when she baked a French coconut pie. She was always willing to transport anyone wherever they needed to go, and always opened her home and heart to anyone who needed something. She was a blessing to so many and a friend to all. She had a contagious laugh and brought joy to more people than she realized. And she will truly be missed, may God bless the legacy of Fredia Terry.
