Freddie Lynn Ervin, age 71, passed away at 8:00pm on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Veteran’s Affairs Community Living Center in Marion.
Freddie was born in Herrin on February 6, 1948, the son of Fredrick A. and Violet Ruth (Liddell) Ervin.
Mr. Ervin was a member of the Catholic Church, West Frankfort diocese. He earned numerous degrees including an Associate of General Education, Associate of General Studies, CNA, Associate of Arts, Bachelor of General Studies, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Law, and Bachelor of Education. Freddie had worked as a Licensed Psychotherapist and a Registered Social Worker in Illinois and Florida. He also served as a volunteer advocate for the Department of Welfare. He was a proud United States Coast Guard Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents- Fredrick and Violet Ervin, wife- Marie Elizabeth (Bollman) Ervin, grandparents- Fred and Lenora Ervin, and grandparents- Papa and Nana Liddell.
As per his wishes, there will be no funeral services. At the time of his passing, his family had the honor of participating in his Hero’s Homecoming service, a beautiful tribute to celebrate his life, at the Veteran’s Affairs Community Living Center. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
