Dorothy M. Watson

Dorothy M. Watson, 89, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 6:33 am at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Dorothy was born July 3, 1932 in West Frankfort, the daughter of Laurel and Katie (Tanner) Segers.  She married Thomas Watson on November 17, 1952 in Vienna, he preceded her in death on February 8, 1979.

She was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Creal Springs, a member of the Marion Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.  Dorothy had worked along side her husband Thomas, in the family plumbing business.  She enjoyed crafting, with her sister Betty they would sell ceramics and crochet items at flea markets.

Survivors include her: Four children;

Robert L. Watson and wife Lori of Elgin

Carolyn A. Watson of Marion

Rebecca Frey and husband Bryan of West Frankfort

William Watson of Marion

Four grandchildren;

James Watson

Charles Watson

Thomas Frey and wife Erin

Kaitlyn Frey

Great grandchild – Henry Frey

Sister – Joan Davis and husband George of Creal Springs

Several nieces and nephews

Preceded by her Parents, Husband – Thomas Watson, Sister – Betty Johns

Funeral services will be Friday, July 16, 2021 at 1 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Ryan officiating.  Burial will follow in Simmons Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 11 am until the time of service at the funeral home.

For those who prefer memorials may be made to Simmons Cemetery. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.
