Donnie LaBotte

Marion- Don Mitchell “Donnie” LaBotte, age 79, of Marion, passed away at 9:33am on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at his home in Marion.

Donnie was born in Johnston City on July 12, 1940, the son of Harry and Ethel (Frazier) LaBotte. He married Anna Sue Bryan in Marion on March 23, 1963. From this union came two beautiful daughters and son-in-laws- Pamela Sue and Don Newton of Marion and Kimberly Dawn and Bruce Plumer of Creal Springs. Anna Sue preceded him in death on June 20, 2012.  He later married Barbara Dorris in Florida on March 5, 2017. From this marriage, Donnie gained two sons- David and Mark Dorris of West Frankfort. Barbara survives in Marion.

Donnie is also survived by four grandchildren-

     Adam and Valerie Cannon of Gallatin, Tennessee

     Mallory and Denver Murphy of Germany

     Doug Plumer of Marion

     Whitney and Josh Charles of West Frankfort

Four Great Grandchildren- Noah, Titus, Emmett, and Ryleigh

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, two sisters, and one brother.

Prior to his retirement ten years ago, Donnie owned and operated Small’s Grocery Store, which he had operated for more than fifty-six years. He enjoyed fishing and his time spent in Texas and Florida.

Private graveside inurnment will be held at Rose Hill in Cemetery.  Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.

For those who prefer, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.
