Donna Jean Sims

Donna Jean Sims, age 84, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023 at her home in Marion, Illinois.

Donna was born August 11, 1938 in Marion, a daughter of Carol and Maxine (Pemberton) Kelly. She grew up in Marion and graduated Marion High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Johnnie Ray Sims on December 07, 1957 in Mississippi. Donna attended Beauty College then worked at Allen Industries. She had worked at several pharmacies and drug stores in Marion, then worked at P&S Grain in the office when she retired. Donna could be seen at many horse shows, supporting her children as they grew up. Her only real hobby was spending time with her grandchildren that she loved so much.

Donna is survived by her husband Johnnie Ray Sims of Marion, IL; two children, Tonda R. (Ray) Huelsmann of Marion, IL, Farron G. (Jennifer) Sims of Marion, IL, daughter in law Mila Maring-Sims of Carbondale, IL; three grandchildren, Maggie Barron, Hillary (Justin) Wing, and Zach (Katelyn) Sims; six great grandchildren; and three siblings, Carolyn Gray of Pittsburg, IL, Bill (Lynn) Kelly of St. Louis, MO, and Darrel (Pam) Kelly of Marion, IL. She is preceded in death by one son, Kelley R. Sims; two grandchildren, Emily Hudson and Colby Sims; her parents, Carol and Maxine Kelly; and one sister, Darles Jenkins.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023, 2:00 PM at Fountain Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Schell officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery in Marion.
