Herrin- Donald Lee “Don” Reynolds, 65, of Herrin, passed away at 1:37 PM, Thursday, January 5, 2017 at his home.
Don was born on April 6, 1951 in Harrisburg to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woodside. At the age of 9, he was adopted by Carl and Phyllis Reynolds.
He was a former corrections and police officer for local departments. He was of Christian faith and a member of the National Rifle Association as well as a being a former member of the Elks Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting and shooting guns. He also collected coins and learning about trains, war history and discussing conspiracy theory. He was a stubborn man who always had a smile on his face and a way to make others laugh. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include-
Former wife and friend- Vicky Reynolds of Herrin
Daughter- Farrah Hays and fiancé Blake Fox of Carterville
Daughter- Amanda Reynolds of Herrin and fiancé Brian Keels of Murphysboro
Grandchildren- Hunter and Wyatt Hays of Carterville
One sister and one brother and several nieces, nephews and cousins
He was preceded in death by his parents, adopted parents and 3 siblings.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
