Deloris Ann Smith

Deloris A. Smith, age 82, of Herrin, Illinois ,formerly of Marion, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

Deloris was born March 13, 1940 in Marion, Illinois, a daughter of Herbert and Mary (Kelley) Jackson. Deloris married and started her family. She worked at Norge in Herrin and was later employed at Amax Coal Company for 25 plus years, driving a gob truck. She enjoyed gambling and slot machines at the casino boat, and vacations to Florida. She liked going for car drives and going out to eat.

She is survived by two children, Ferrin D. Smith of Marion, IL and Kathy S. (Mike) Jones of Marion, IL; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey L. (Amber) Buchanan, Austin Smith, Randi Smith, Rylee Smith, Alisha Rath, Nikki (Brent) Gibbs, and Crystal (Brian) Campbell; eight great-grandchildren, Bailee Buchanan, Phoebe Buchanan, Lilly Rath, Adam Rath, Oakley Troehler, Michael Gibbs, Lincoln Gibbs, and Hazel Campbell; and two sisters, Linda (Tony) Holmes of Stonefort, IL and Rosa Vachata of Herrin, IL.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Mary Jackson and four siblings, Kenneth Jackson, Billy Jackson, Louise Hart, and Robert Lee Jackson.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 30th, 2022 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2022, 11:00 AM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery south of Marion.
