David was born against all odds in Monroe, LA on July 23, 1944 to Roy Hill “Buddy” and Gracie (Hefley) Rutledge. Despite later being diagnosed with polio he graduated high school and received his Associates degree. He was a good mediator with a great sense of humor and a “Jack of All Trades”. He loved working on and starting projects. He was an accomplished man who was wise beyond his years. He married Linda Nell Shaver on July 6, 1968 and together shared almost 50 wonderful years of marriage.
David was a tough man who did not understand the word quit. He was involved in a horrific automobile accident against a train and still maintained his sense of humor and patient determination that made him who he was. His favorite actor was John Wayne and his dream was to be a cowboy- riding the range and rustling cattle. His favorite memories from his childhood were of riding his beloved horse “Trigger”.
He enjoyed eating at Cracker Barrel and visiting with friends and family from all over, he never met a stranger. His greatest joy however was time spent with his wife and children and especially his dear granddaughters.
